After many years of service, we have decided to close ICanLocalize. But this isn’t the end of the story. It’s the beginning of a new one. We’ve built Private Translation Cloud (PTC) — a modern AI translation system that delivers human-quality results at machine speed and cost.
ICanLocalize will shut down on December 3, 2025. After this date, the platform will no longer be available. The good news is: you won’t lose your translations, and moving to PTC is simple.
What Happens to My Existing Translations?
If you’ve used ICanLocalize with WPML, all your translations are already stored in your WordPress database. They will remain available on your site.
If you’ve used ICanLocalize for software projects, you can import your existing translation files into PTC, so your past investment continues to serve as the foundation for your projects.
From here, every new translation with PTC will give you human-quality results – only now they’ll cost far less.
How to Switch from ICanLocalize to PTC
PTC For Software Translation
If you’ve been using ICanLocalize to translate software ( plugins, themes, or apps), you’ll now use PTC as a standalone translation system.
Export your existing translations from ICanLocalize. Keep these files somewhere safe—you’ll need to upload them into PTC.
Choose how to use PTC. You can upload files manually or connect PTC to your Git repository or CI/CD pipeline for continuous localization.
Upload the source files with your original strings (for example, strings.xml for Android, .po for WordPress plugins, .json for web apps).
Upload the translation files you downloaded from ICanLocalize so none of your past work is lost.
Uploading existing translation files
Finish the setup wizard and go to your PTC dashboard, where you can view strings in a clear table, edit them, request retranslations for long translations, and more.
If you’ve been using ICanLocalize with WPML on your WordPress site:
Everything you translated with ICanLocalize is already stored in your WordPress database. You don’t need to re-import or migrate them.
To create new translations, go to WPML → Settings and select PTC as your translation engine. Add a bit of context about your website so PTC can generate human-quality translations.
Telling PTC about your site and audience
From then on, you’ll continue sending content to translation from the Translation Dashboard, just like before. PTC will return human-quality translations directly into your WordPress site.
