German to English translators

Master's degree in translation (Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand) and professional experience since 1994. Specialized in medical translation (informed consent forms, drug descriptions, medical equipment), legal documents, patents, marketing, tourism, among others. English and German into Spanish, as well as German and Spanish into English. Born in Chile, I am also a New Zealand citizen, and have also lived in the USA (6 years), and Germany (2 years).

I am a translator fluent in German and French. I grew up in California, earned a BA in German and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley, and earned a PhD in Comparative Literature with a certificate in German Studies from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. My largest translation project was a German philosophy book that I translated into English: Hans Blumenberg's The Laughter of the Thracian Woman (Bloomsbury, 2015).

As a translator, the most important thing is to produce a text that does not sound translated at all. My goal is to create a natural, accurate and fitting text at all times.

I am a Canadian native and have been living in Germany for more than 18 years. I have studied at two German universities and have the equivalent of a Bachelor degree in German, English and Sociology and a teaching degree for English and German.
